Welcome to my website! If you require home flute lessons (competitive rates, any age, tailored to your needs) in the Whiteley and surrounding areas in Hampshire, UK, then please see my Tuition Page. I also include details on this site of my future, past and current events and projects.
I am a self-taught flautist living in Whiteley, Hampshire, UK. I come from a musical family, my father Allan Mead having played Principal Horn at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra after studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. My passion in the flute started from the age of 16 after playing the trumpet to around grade 6 standard. James Galway is a great inspiration to me. I currently play flute in two orchestras: Charity Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Ariel Orchestra (Maida Vale Studios, London). I have also played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, at Maida Vale, and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, at Portsmouth Guildhall and Poole Lighthouse. I am studying for a BA(Hons) degree in Music at the Open College for the Creative Arts, having started the Music Composition 1 course in March 2015. I am a Student Member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (SMISM). I have previously composed some music for a project entitled 'Creative Interpretations of the Microworld' funded by the Vice-President's Fund Award of the Royal Microscopical Society. I am also learning violin, viola and clarinet.
I am interested in new opportunities for playing and enjoy offering home flute tuition. Please contact for details.
